BITS OF MEMORY II

The starting point of the series Bits of Memory came up from a childhood memory induced by the blackberries that I picked and ate during a walk around the village where I grew up (La Pobla de Claramunt - Barcelona). If in Bits of memory I the element that cause the memory is the blackberry, here what it brings on the memory is the whole bramble with the surrounding scenario.

PHOTOGRAPH 1

The present moment of picking up the blackberries triggers the memory of a past time. The present here is depicted by the color photograph of the bramble with the surrounding landscape and the black-and-white picture on top refers to a piece of memory of the past.

PHOTOGRAPH 2

The photographs placed on the original bramble photograph have different blurred layers, referring to the layers that the time generates in our memory. These photos depict the memories of the past, which are always altered by the present perspective in which the memory is generated.

The colour photography is set on the black-and-white and unfocused photograph of the bramble and the landscape. The chunk of color depicts that precise moment of memory, as opposed to the rest of the memory that has been faded, represented here by  the black and white photography.

The foggy and blurred photograph of the background represents the imagination or the dream and the cut circles from the original photograph above  refer to those small, accurate memories; to those bits of the real world that are part of our visions.
